Electric Platform Concept Development

Concept development of the front end of an electric vehicle platform, consisting of packaging of engine bay and battery, chassis and BIW concepts, safety verification, manufacturing and assembly concept visualisation.

THE SOLUTION

  • Brainstorming activities were conducted in several stages and the evaluation of these ideas were conducted together with the client
  • Chosen ideas was developed gradually and conceptually verified with packaging activities and assembly studies
  • The most important objects was scalability of size/weight, frontal impact safety and cost efficiency of the structural concepts for high volume production
  • The concept was verified for safety with full vehicle crash simulations
  • Agile way of working in close cooperation with the client

THE RESULT

  • The study was an eye opener for the customer in terms of what efficiency possibilities exists, if the constraints of a combustion engine in the platform is removed

  • Unique front structure, wheel suspension and scalable electric platform was developed and virtually verified

  • The project was optimized for high volume production and low part prices

  • Delivered on time with extremely tight time schedule
